Farmers Markets

• Don't expect kerb-to-kerb Soil Association approved food stalls, but do expect well-presented local produce.
• It'll usually be locally reared, grown, produced - most markets have rules for where the food comes from (unlike those 'farm' shops which sell coal and bananas as well as bags of spuds).
• They're busy and too infrequent - but I know from my stints on Farmers Markets that you don't make money unless you sell most of what you came with, so appearances are spread thin over different markets.
• The people here aren't food scientists - 'its low tech.' - so what you buy is honestly produced and simply packed.
• The only product which has air miles in it is the honey.
